RAD and the Office of the Chief Scientist, an agency within the Ministry of Economics, Israel will invest $32 million for its RAD Negev subsidiary, a research and development (R&D) center, for developing programmable network solutions.
Telecom network vendor today inaugurated the center which is situated in the new hi-tech park in the city of Beer Sheva, Israel’s Negev region.
RAD and the Office of the Chief Scientist will invest in the project over the next three years. RAD has hired 30 software engineers to work in the new facility, while 20 more are expected to join by the end of this year. RAD has set a goal of employing over 100 engineers within three years in this new facility.
Some of the focus areas of the new R&D centers will be Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) technologies.
“This new R&D center will help us accelerate our roadmap to differentiating innovation. Our goal is to recruit talented developers from the area in order to continue to strengthen our market advantage and industry leadership,” said RAD president and CEO Dror Bin.
