Pacnet veteran William Barney joins Reliance Globalcom

Pacnet veteran William Barney has joined Reliance Globalcom as CEO of its three offshore businesses including FLAG, Yipes and Vanco.

Anil Ambani, chairman, Reliance Communications, said: “Bill’s track record and ability in reshaping the technology business will be a true asset to Reliance Globalcom.”

At Pacnet, Barney led the company’s acquisition of regional ISP, Pacific Internet, which operationally merged with Asia Netcom and re-launched as Pacnet in January 2008.

Prior to Pacnet, Barney served as Asia Pacific President and CEO for MCI Worldcom  (Verizon)  where  he led the company through a three-digit growth phase.

Barney will operate out of Hong Kong and Mumbai.

Punit  Garg  will  continue  to  lead  the  growing  and  profitable  Indian enterprise business of Reliance Communications.
