ITU Radio Regulations Board selects Pawan K Garg as vice chairman for 2012




The Radio Regulations Board (RRB), ITU has
elected Pawan K  Garg as vice chairman for 2012. He would  also
become the chairman for the year 2013.


This would be second time that India is
bestowed at the highest level , earlier RN Agarwal held the position as chairman
RBR-ITU.


The chairman and vice chairman of the Radio
Regulations Board (RRB), ITU, are elected every year for one year. As per
normal practice, the vice chairman takes over as chairman next year.


At the recently concluded meeting of the RRB,
the vice chairman for the current year was elected as chairman for the next
year 2012. For the vacancy of the vice chairman, election was held.

 

Pawan K  Garg has worked with Indian
Government upto the head of the national RF spectrum management, and included planning
of various radio-communication services.


During his tenure, Indian mobile network grew
exponentially and Indian telecom network achieved the second position globally.


He is a Fellow of Institute of Electronics
& Telecommunication Engineers (India) for last 20 years and has been a
member of its Governing Council also.


Garg retired on 30th April 2008 as wireless
adviser to Government of India, Ministry of Communication & IT after 39
years’ service with the Government.
