Ericsson leads wireless voice core market in Q2 2011

The overall Carrier IP Telephony market revenues grew 10 percent sequentially and were flat on a year-over-year basis, according to Dell’Oro Group.

Ericsson remained number one in wireless voice core, while GENBAND maintained its revenue share lead in the wireline voice core market.

Declines in media gateway and softswitch revenues offset high growth experienced by the Voice Application Server (VAS) and Session Border Controller (SBC) markets.

In 2Q11, VAS revenues grew over the last year by more
than 15 percent, driven in large part by the deployment of hosted business
services by service providers. SBC revenues likewise grew by nearly 40 percent
over the year-ago quarter and are attracting the attention of many vendors.

“In the second quarter, there were signs of
increased competition in the Session Border Controller market. Session Border
Controller market revenues accelerated to 38 percent year-over-year and saw one
new entrant, Alcatel-Lucent, grab four percent revenue share,” said Chris
DePuy, Analyst at Dell’Oro Group.

Last week Dell’Oro Group released a report about worldwide optical transport
equipment market.

According to Dell’Oro Group, Huawei’s marketshare has
decreased in optical transport market. Worldwide optical transport equipment
market revenues grew 10 percent year-over-year to $3 billion in the first
quarter of 2011. Dell’Oro Group predicts that the market will grow 9
percent to over $13 billion by year-end.
