Telecom Lead Asia: China Mobile International, a
subsidiary of China Mobile, has set up its new global network center in Hong
Kong.
The global network center has an internal space of 24,355
square meters.
It serves as a submarine cable landing and transmission
hub in Hong Kong, Internet Data Center (IDC), Cloud Computing Center and Global
Network Operation Center (GNOC).
China Mobile will be able to provide a full range of
telecommunication network services including cloud services in Hong Kong and
around the world.
The center will operate as the base for a whole spectrum
of international telecommunication services for China Mobile International by
connecting China’s network with the world via the existing and the new
submarine cable systems landed in Hong Kong.
Xi Guo Hua, chairman of China Mobile Communications, said
the strategy to promote international business will support China Mobile to
achieve sustainable development and growth. The establishment of the Global
Network Center will further strengthen its infrastructure, facilities and the
service level for International business.
CMI is one of the consortium members of the Asia-Pacific
Gateway (APG) and the South-East Asia Japan (SJC) submarine cable system which
will be ready for service in 2014 and 2013 respectively.
The new global network center will house voice and data
services including International Private Leased Circuit (IPLC), International
Ethernet Private Line (IEPL), Multiprotocol Label Switch Virtual Private
Network (MPLS VPN), IP Transit, Long Distance Voice Hubbing, Cloud enabling
service, IPX and Roaming Hub.
Tiger Lin, chairman of China Mobile, said that Hong Kong
is equipped with the best infrastructure and expertise as a hub between China
and the rest of the world. It will become a natural platform for China Mobile
International to further expand in the future.
