NTT expands Global low-latency network with access to the TEA-2 wavelength service

Telecom Lead Asia: NTT Communications has extended its
Global low-latency network with a dedicated connection between London and Hong
Kong.

The extended network allows NTT Communications to offer a
Managed Bandwidth Service using the new TEA-2 system, which is the latest
low-latency route alternative to subsea cables.

John Hammond, VP Business Network Services at NTT Europe
said that the TEA-2 cable system has strengthened the company’s capability in
Europe.

With access to the TEA-2 wavelength service, NTT
Communications’ European customers will now have direct connectivity to the
major countries in Asia.

The company said that its investment in this new route
will provide European customers with a reliable, private and dedicated network
service on-net, as the use of data networks and cloud services increase.

Masaaki Moribayashi, managing director at NTT Europe said
the company has a strong presence and heritage in the Asia-Pacific region and
this announcement means the company is able to provide the skills and network
infrastructure our customers need to become successful.

The European connection into Hong Kong complements NTT
Communications’ “Gateway to Asia” offering between Europe, Singapore,
Japan and China.

The company said that the scheduled launch of the NTT
Communications Hong Kong Financial Data Center (FDC) in 2013 will enable the
TEA-2 landing site to provide Tier IV ready data center infrastructure with an
ultra-low latency network.

NTT Communications unveils new Data Centers in Singapore and
Malaysia

A few months back, NTT Communications unveiled its
Singapore Serangoon Data Center and Malaysia Cyberjaya 3 Data Center.

Both these facilities are NTT Com’s first
self-designed-and-built data centers outside Japan. These data centers are
the company’s fourth such facility in Singapore and the third
in Malaysia.
