Spectrum Expands Broadband Reach to 70 Million Homes and Businesses After Cox Integration
Charter Communications has brought Spectrum products and network services to more than 11 million additional homes and businesses across 45 states following its integration of former Cox markets. The expansion increases Spectrum’s total reach to more than 70 million homes and businesses. Customers gain access to its fiber broadband network, which supports multi-gigabit speeds and approximately 45 million secure Wi-Fi access points carrying nearly 90 percent of mobile-phone traffic on the network. Major new Spectrum markets include Las Vegas, New Orleans, Oklahoma City, Phoenix, Providence and San Diego. Charter also plans to return Cox customer-service operations fully to the US over the next 18 months.
Cricket Wireless Launches 5G Fixed Wireless Home Broadband on AT&T Network
Cricket Wireless has launched 5G Home Internet using AT&T’s nationwide mobile network, extending the prepaid operator from mobile connectivity into fixed wireless broadband. The service provides unlimited data and uses a self-installed Cricket gateway, eliminating the need for technician installation or annual contracts. New customers can combine Cricket 5G Home Internet and wireless service starting at $75 per month, while existing Cricket mobile subscribers can add home broadband for $45 per month, representing a $15 monthly bundle saving. Availability varies according to AT&T 5G coverage and network capacity. The launch gives AT&T another channel for monetising its 5G infrastructure while increasing competition between fixed wireless, cable and fiber broadband providers in the US.
Conexon Fiber Networks Reach 100% Coverage at Nearly 50 US Electric Cooperatives
Rural broadband specialist Conexon says nearly 50 electric cooperatives across 13 US states have now completed fiber-to-the-home networks reaching 100 percent of their members. Seven cooperatives in Oklahoma, Florida and Georgia joined the programme in 2026 after completing network builds between the second half of 2025 and first half of 2026. Conexon and its cooperative partners have secured more than $2 billion in federal, state and local funding and designed over 200,000 miles of fiber infrastructure. Their networks have made FTTH available to more than 4 million rural Americans. Conexon has worked with cooperatives across approximately 80 markets, demonstrating the growing role of electric utilities in extending multi-gigabit fiber broadband into underserved rural communities.
Intellian and Network Innovations Develop Multi-Orbit SATCOM Terminal for LEO, MEO, GEO and HEO
Intellian Technologies and Network Innovations have partnered to develop next-generation tactical satellite terminals supporting LEO, MEO, GEO and HEO constellations. The new Wideband Global SATCOM flyaway platform is designed to simultaneously support Mil-X, military Ka-band, commercial Ka-band and Ku-band connectivity, with electronic switching across extended Ka frequencies. The companies say deployable systems can become operational in as little as 30 minutes. The initial platform targets military and government communications and is being engineered for WGS certification and key MIL-SPEC requirements. Intellian also plans non-WGS commercial variants for enterprise and critical communications. The multi-orbit architecture reflects increasing demand for terminals capable of dynamically using several satellite networks rather than remaining tied to a single constellation.
