Ekinops has signed a framework agreement with Proximus to deploy the NEURON (Next generation Enhanced Uniform Reliable Optical Network) project, a nationwide high-speed optical network spanning more than 600 sites across Belgium. The agreement follows a Memorandum of Understanding announced in March 2026 and covers the supply of WDM-based optical transport equipment, the Celestis network management platform, software, and professional services. The new infrastructure is designed to support traffic ranging from ultra-low to 1.6 terabits per second, strengthening Belgium’s digital backbone while enhancing scalability and reliability. The contract reinforces Ekinops’ position in advanced optical networking and reflects Proximus’ confidence in the company’s European-developed technologies.
