At SCTE TechExpo 2025, Netcracker and executives from C Spire, Rogers Communications, and T‑Mobile highlighted the role of secure broadband networks in enabling intelligent automation and customer-centric innovation. They discussed using edge computing, AI-driven network optimization, and automation to provide reliable, low-latency services and improve customer operations. Netcracker demonstrated its Broadband Experience Solutions, including the MVNO Cloud Solution, which supports service providers in launching and managing mobile virtual networks.

Optus Network Outage Sparks Emergency Call Failures, SingTel Shares Drop

On September 22, 2025, Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) shares fell 2.3 percent after a 13-hour network outage at its Australian subsidiary, Optus. The failure disrupted emergency call services, resulting in four deaths. The outage affected around 600 customers in South Australia, Western Australia, and the Northern Territory. The incident occurred during a network upgrade, and Optus CEO Stephen Rue stated that established procedures were not followed. This follows a nationwide outage in 2023, for which Optus was fined A$12 million, Reuters reports.

Lumen Ramps Up Network Expansion to Power AI Growth

Lumen Technologies is investing billions to expand its network to meet increasing AI demand. The expansion includes adding millions of fiber miles and increasing data center capacity to handle AI workloads. The company is enhancing network infrastructure to provide faster connectivity for AI applications. Lumen is deploying new network routes, upgrading existing fiber, and scaling edge computing capabilities to support data-intensive AI services.

Vantiva’s Cobra 5G Router Unlocks MVNO 5G Access Across North America

Vantiva’s Cobra 5G router received certification from T-Mobile, allowing Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) to provide 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) services in North America. The certification enables MVNOs to integrate the router into their networks, expanding service offerings. The Cobra 5G router includes WAN Sensing for network switching, Indoor5G and RuralBoost for extended service coverage, and the NaviGate Companion app for device configuration and management. The router also supports ECO Control, a cloud-based platform for remote firmware updates and device support.
