Top 10 smartphone brands in India Q1-2025
Top 10 smartphone brands in India Q1-2025

According to the latest IDC report, Motorola is one of the top 10 smartphone brands in India during the first-quarter of 2025.

Worth its surprising price?

Motorola’s latest flagship, the Razr 60 Ultra, enters the Indian smartphone market with impressive AI capabilities, a stunning 7.0” Super HD pOLED internal display, and a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. However, despite its technical advancements, the exorbitant price tag raises serious concerns about its value for money.

While the device boasts powerful AI-driven features like Look & Talk and a 3X 50MP flip camera system, these enhancements come at a steep cost, positioning the Razr 60 Ultra as one of the most expensive flip phones on the market. The Alcantara and wood finishes, while luxurious, feel more like marketing gimmicks than practical upgrades, further inflating the price without delivering substantial benefits to everyday users.

The external display, while large and capable, is essentially a glorified widget panel that replicates functions already accessible through conventional smartphones. Paying a premium for a device that performs similar tasks as a standard smartphone—albeit in a flashier, foldable format—makes little financial sense, especially when the core functions can be replicated by devices costing significantly less.

Even the AI features, touted as revolutionary, are not significantly differentiated from existing Android AI functionalities, making it difficult to justify the hefty price tag. Additionally, while Motorola emphasizes the durability of its hinge system, the need to stress-test it for 800,000 flips inadvertently draws attention to potential design weaknesses rather than strengths.

For users willing to pay a premium for brand prestige and foldable tech, the Razr 60 Ultra may hold some appeal. However, for the average consumer, it is an expensive proposition that doesn’t deliver enough practical innovation to justify its sky-high price. Other flagship devices in the market offer more substantial, user-centric features at more reasonable prices, making the Razr 60 Ultra a tough sell despite its advanced specifications.
