Ericsson Appoints Chris Houghton as Chief Operating Officer

Chris Houghton, a veteran with 35 years of experience at Ericsson and currently Senior Vice President, Market Area North East Asia, has been appointed as the Chief Operating Officer. In this pivotal role, Chris Houghton will focus on cross-group initiatives and ongoing cost-efficiency measures, strengthening operational execution and fostering alignment and coordination across the organization.

Asa Tamsons Named Head of Business Area Enterprise Wireless Solutions

Asa Tamsons, the current Senior Vice President of Business Area Technologies & New Businesses (BTEB), has been appointed as the Head of Business Area Enterprise Wireless Solutions. With a strong track record in developing and growing new businesses, Asa Tamsons will lead efforts to grow Enterprise Wireless Solutions and drive towards breakeven, aligning with Ericsson’s strategic objectives.

Borje Ekholm, President and CEO of Ericsson, highlighted the significance of these appointments and praised the expertise and experience that Chris Houghton and Asa Tamsons bring to their respective roles.

Leadership Transitions and Retirements

George Mulhern, Senior Vice President and Head of Business Area Enterprise Wireless Solutions (BEWS), will transition to an advisory role from November 1, 2023, and retire from Ericsson in 2024. Additionally, Nunzio Mirtillo, Senior Vice President and Head of Market Area South East Asia, Oceania & India, will retire from Ericsson during 2024.

These strategic leadership changes mark a pivotal moment for Ericsson as it continues to drive its business transformation and consolidate its position as a global leader in wireless edge solutions and dedicated networks offerings for enterprises.
