T-Mobile Launches Second Corporate Venture Capital Fund to Drive Next-Gen Innovations

T-Mobile, a trailblazer in the telecommunications industry, has unveiled its second corporate venture capital fund aimed at propelling the evolution of products and services that forge deeper connections between customers and businesses with their surroundings.
T-Mobile The Un-CarrierThis initiative seeks to integrate cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) into mobile experiences, create seamlessly connected homes, ensure parental peace of mind in the digital age, and deploy actionable business insights through edge computing.

T-Mobile did not reveal the size of its investment fund.

The new fund is designed to empower private mid- and growth-stage companies to unlock future growth areas that T-Mobile’s robust 5G network is delivering to consumers and businesses alike. With the foundation of America’s leading 5G network, the possibilities for investments that deliver industry-redefining technologies and experiences are nearly limitless.

“After the success of our first fund in fueling 5G innovation and bringing futuristic products like 5G-connected, AI-enabled cameras to life, we’re focusing on the next generation of products and services that will bring consumers and businesses a deeper connection to the things that matter most to them,” said John Saw, EVP and Chief Technology Officer, T-Mobile.

T-Mobile’s second corporate venture fund will directly support T-Mobile’s strategic business growth areas via the following four objectives:

Augmenting Core Consumer Products and Services: Simplifying and enhancing customers’ daily lives with products such as smart home devices, connected wearables, and personalized sports and entertainment experiences.

Expanding Business Services and Capabilities: Accelerating digital transformation through intelligent edge computing services, cybersecurity platforms, connected vehicle navigation technologies, and distributed workforce applications.

Accelerating Expansion for New Lines of Business: Including T-Mobile Home Internet, T-Mobile Money, and T-Mobile Advertising Solutions.

Supporting T-Mobile’s Network and Technology Roadmap: Focusing on AI, XR and spatial computing, and smart mobility.

By being part of T-Mobile Ventures, portfolio companies can leverage T-Mobile’s network and engineering expertise, go-to-market infrastructure, and investment backing as they strive to develop, test, and launch this next generation of products and services.

T-Mobile Network as a Platform for Innovation

T-Mobile holds the position of a leader in 5G technology, boasting the country’s largest, fastest, and most acclaimed 5G network. The Un-carrier’s 5G network blankets 326 million people across two million square miles, exceeding the coverage of AT&T and Verizon combined. Currently, 285 million people nationwide enjoy coverage by T-Mobile’s super-fast Ultra Capacity 5G, and the Un-carrier plans to extend this to 300 million people with Ultra Capacity this year – nearly encompassing the entire nation.

T-Mobile Ventures collaborates with corporate venture capital firm Touchdown Ventures to efficiently manage this fund, propelling a wave of innovation in the tech industry.
