Vodafone Germany

Vodafone Germany’s cable broadband customer base declined by 45,000 and it lost 38,000 DSL broadband customers during H1.

Vodafone Italy

Vodafone Italy said its next generation network (NGN) broadband services are now available to 25.9 million households, including 9.3 million through our own network and partnership with Open Fiber. In October, Vodafone Italy launched 5G fixed-wireless services and cover around 2 million households, which will increase to over 3 million by the end of the financial year. This complements 4G fixed-wireless access products, which covers over 2 million additional households.

Vodafone UK

Vodafone UK’s broadband customer base increased by 61,000 and it has over 1.1 million broadband customers, of which 54 percent are converged.

Vodafone UK’s digital prepaid subbrand VOXI had its best ever sales month in September following a successful seasonal campaign, adding 72,000 new customers during H1. Vodafone UK said its digital sales mix improved by 4 percentage points to 37 percent of total sales.

Vodafone Spain

Vodafone Spain’s broadband customer base fell by 40,000 and TV customer base decreased by 10,000 as a result of competitive intensity in the low value segment. Vodafone Spain’s converged customer base increased by 7,000 to over 2.2 million.

Energy efficiency initiatives

Between FY17 and FY22, the share of 4G and 5G traffic doubled on its network – and now accounts for over 90 percent of mobile data traffic – as it shut down 3G networks in favour of more efficient 4G and 5G networks.

In addition, Vodafone put mobile radio capacity layers throughout Europe into low power modes during low traffic periods. Vodafone is now extending this functionality so that it operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to enhance this capability to maximize energy efficiency.

Vodafone uses AI-based algorithms to optimize cooling in 70 technology centers across Europe and Africa. Vodafone aims to increase investment in passive infrastructure upgrades.

Vodafone said its energy data management and analytics system, which collects and stores data feeds from electricity suppliers and from smart meters, is live across 13 markets in Europe, with smart meters installed at 53,000 sites.
