Voxbone powers Lexifone automated phone-translation service

Telecom Lead Europe:  Voxbone, a provider of
worldwide geographical, toll-free and iNum telephone numbers, and Lexifone have
teamed up to launch a real-time language-translation service.

The new language-translation service will combine
Lexifone’s automated phone-interpreter technology with the Voxbone’s voice
services.

“As this relationship illustrates, language translation
is an attractive service offering that exploits the power and versatility of
Voxbone’s all-IP connections around the world,” said Voxbone CEO Rod Ullens.

The new Voxbone-powered Lexifone service is aimed at
consumers and businesses. Lexifone claims that the service allows each party in
a telephone call to speak and be heard in his or her chosen language.

The new service may be used on landline, mobile or VoIP
without an Internet connection or software download.

“We selected Voxbone for its ability to provide that
clarity, as well as its global coverage, flexibility and technological
expertise. Voxbone’s extensive relationships with telecom providers will save
us time and money. We’ll also benefit from Voxbone’s experience working with
voice application providers,” said Lexifone CEO and founder Ike Sagie.

The Lexifone automated phone-interpreter service
accommodates translations into seven languages, including French, Spanish,
Mandarin, English, Portuguese, German and Italian. The service also supports 15
dialects, which relies on Voxbone’s access numbers and all-IP network.

The company said that translation capabilities for other
languages like Russian, Japanese and Korean are under development.

Voxbone posts 19 percent growth in VoIP revenue in 2011

A few months back, Voxbone announced that it saw a
steady growth in VoIP communications in 2011, as demand from existing customers
increased, coupled with new business wins from some of the fastest-rising
operators in telecommunications.
