Ofcom reveals license fees for 10 GHz, 28 GHz, 32 GHz spectrum

British telecom regulator Ofcom has proposed annual fees for licenses in the 10 GHz, 28 GHz and 32 GHz spectrum bands.
Smartphone chargerTelecom operators use 10 GHz, 28 GHz and 32 GHz spectrum bands — primarily for point-to-point fixed wireless services.

Ofcom proposes to set a national annual license fee of £7,568 per 2 x 1 MHz for 10 GHz spectrum and £4,576 per 2 x 1 MHz for 32 GHz spectrum.

Ofcom proposes to set regional annual license fees for 28 GHz spectrum based on a national rate of £4,576 per 2 x 1 MHz of spectrum.

Ofcom said it aims to align regional annual license fees previously set in 2015 for 28 GHz licenses awarded in 2000 with the proposed annual license fees in today’s consultation for 28 GHz licenses awarded in 2008 (including the payment dates), so that a single fee applies for all 28 GHz spectrum.

Today’s consultation closes on 27 September 2022. We aim to publish our decision and fee regulations by January 2023, Ofcom said.
