Comtech Telecommunications bags $1.3 million modem & frequency converter contract

Telecom Lead Asia: Comtech EF Data Corp, a
subsidiary of Comtech Telecommunications has got a $1.3 million follow-on
contract award for satellite ground equipment from an existing government
customer.

Under this follow-on contract, Comtech will provide the
CDM-625 advanced satellite modem and the CDM-700 high-speed satellite modem
along with Frequency Converters to support a network expansion in Asia.

We were awarded this follow-on order based on our
field-proven technologies and consistently high level of customer support,” said Fred Kornberg, president and chief executive officer of Comtech
Telecommunications Corp.

Comtech’s CDM-625 modem combines forward error correction
with DoubleTalk Carrier-in-Carrier bandwidth compression for maximum
savings.

Based on Adaptive Cancellation technology by Raytheon
Applied Signal, DoubleTalk Carrier-in-Carrier, based allows transmit and
receive carriers of a duplex link to share the same transponder space.

On the other hand, the CDM-700 modem offers a range of
multi-port data interfaces. The modem operates in broadcast, circuit restoration,
point-to-point and point-to-multipoint applications with exceptional power and
bandwidth efficiency.

The company also provides C-Band and Ku-Band Synthesized
Frequency Converters that can easily be integrated and operated in any size
earth station.

These modems and converters will enable users to lower
down OPEX/CAPEX and maximize throughput/availability without using additional
transponder resources.

Comtech Systems received an order valued at $5.5 million for its modular
