Telstra conducts esports gaming over a live 5G connection

Telstra — in association with Intel and Ericsson — has conducted esports professional gaming over a live 5G connection on Australia’s Gold Coast.
Ericsson, Telstra and Qualcomm achieve 300Mbps speed with LTE Category 6Professional gaming team The Chiefs attended the Telstra and Intel 5G trial in the Telstra 5G Innovation Center and a mobile outdoor event in an Intel-branded shipping container.

The esports stars took on Tom Lynch, captain of the Gold Coast Suns (AFL) enjoying the low latency of 5G-enabled gaming during the outdoor live trial.

Intel has demonstrated the 5G Mobile Trial Platform which allows for quick implementation of the latest air interfaces and communication protocols. Ericsson has showcased its 5G base station. Telstra has displayed its core network capabilities at the event.
