T-Mobile beats AT&T and Verizon in 5G business: Opensignal

T-Mobile is the leading 5G mobile operator in the United States as compared with rivals such as AT&T and Verizon, according to a report from Opensignal.

T-Mobile customers experience 5G download speed of 171 Mbps as compared with 72.8 Mbps at Verizon network and 53.6 Mbps at AT&T.

T-Mobile customers experience 5G coverage of 7.8 points (out of 10) as compared with 3.9 points at Verizon network and 5.4 points at AT&T.

T-Mobile customers experience 5G availability of 40.6 (percent of the time) as compared with 10.6 at Verizon network and 18.6 at AT&T.

“Our early bets in 5G are paying off, and T-Mobile customers are benefitting big time,” said Neville Ray, President of Technology at T-Mobile. “Year after year and report after report, T-Mobile continues to lead the industry in 5G speed and availability. And that won’t change as we continue rolling out the best network in the country.”

The analysis report confirms that T-Mobile has the best 5G Availability showing T-Mobile customers were connected to 5G 2x more often than AT&T customers and OVER 3x more often than Verizon customers.

T-Mobile said its Extended Range 5G covers nearly everyone in the country – 315 million people across 1.8 million square miles. 225 million people nationwide are covered with super-fast Ultra Capacity 5G, and T-Mobile expects to cover 260 million in 2022 and 300 million next year.

The Opensignal report said the data collection period was between March 16 and June 13, 2022.
