Chunghwa Telecom taps Ericsson for 5G network

Ericsson 5G for telecomsChunghwa Telecom, a mobile service provider in Taiwan, has selected Ericsson for a joint 5G pilot project.

Chunghwa Telecom will rely on Ericsson technologies to deploy a 5G network at designated sites in the beginning of 2019. Chunghwa Telecom aims for 5G pre-commercialization in 2020.

Chi-Mau Sheih, president of Chunghwa Telecom, said the trial network will use 3.5GHz and 28GHz frequency bands, test interoperability between 5G and 4G, and validate innovative applications.
