Vodafone Idea has refarmed 3G spectrum to 4G across all sites in Mumbai, enhancing GIGAnet 4G capacity in the city.
Vodafone Idea has deployed 5 MHz of 2100 MHz spectrum band to enhance mobile experience to its customers in Mumbai by offering higher download and upload speeds apart from better indoor coverage.
The existing 4G infrastructure, ramped up with the migration of 3G spectrum to 4G, gives Vi GIGAnet 4G the triple advantages of wider coverage, network quality as well as stronger traffic carriage capacity in Mumbai, Rajendra Chourasia, operations director – Mumbai, Vodafone Idea said.
Vodafone Idea has lost significant number of mobile phone customers in Mumbai. Vodafone Idea has 11.239 million mobile phone customers in Mumbai metro in October 2020 as compared with 10.964 million in September 2020. Vodafone Idea said it will continue to offer 2G services in Mumbai.
Ookla, a leader in broadband testing and web-based network diagnostic applications, has verified GIGAnet from Vi as the most consistent and fastest 4G network in Mumbai in terms of download as well as upload speeds.
“4G infrastructure with the expansion on 2100 MHz layer has improved data speeds, besides ensuring a better indoor network experience for Vi customers in Mumbai. We request all Vi 3G customers to visit the nearest retail outlet to upgrade to a 4G SIM, free of cost and start experiencing the Vi GIGAnet 4G,” Rajendra Chourasia said.
