Vodafone 4G reaches 2,500 towns in Gujarat, adds 5300 sites

Indian telecom operator Vodafone said its 4G network reached 2,500 plus towns covering 33 districts of Gujarat.

Vodafone India does not reveal the 4G subscriber base in India. Vodafone never disclosed the investment for the purpose of rolling out 4G network.

“Using the latest technologies, we have created additional capacity and built a smart, robust and resilient 4G network,” Abhijit Kishore, business head – Gujarat, Vodafone India, said in a statement.

Vodafone India has rolled out 5,300 plus sites to expand and strengthen its data network, catering to the growing demand for data and voice of its over 20+ million customers across the circle, since January 2017.

The Vodafone statement is not clear whether the company has rolled out 4G cell sites or a combination of 3G and 4G cell sites to boost mobile data business.

Vodafone India has increased its wireless subscriber base from 20384158 in November 2017 to 20537804 in December 2017, according to the latest statistics from TRAI. On the other hand, Reliance Jio enhanced its 4G subscriber base in Gujarat from 11012866 to 11546414.

Idea Cellular, which is merging with Vodafone India, has also reported growth in Gujarat with wireless subscriber base growing from 13169384 to 13378193.
