Norlys, which recently purchased Telia Denmark, has selected Nokia to provide mobile core network and managed services.
The deal, combined with a RAN contract signed with Nokia in 2021, will enhance Norlys’ mobile network performance and reliability. Norlys is the largest integrated energy and telecommunications operator in Denmark.
Norlys will start the deployment of Nokia’s 4G / 5G packet core, and IMS and SDM solutions to support voice and data services for Norlys subscribers in Denmark.
The core network applications will run on Red Hat OpenShift, a cloud application platform powered by Kubernetes. Red Hat OpenShift is integrated into Nokia Cloud Platform, providing a cloud-native and scalable infrastructure.
Nokia will secure the operator’s network through its NetGuard telco grade Endpoint Detection and Response, Privileged Access Management, and Certificate Management solutions.
Nokia will also deliver a holistic service wrap entailing managed security, performance, and assurance services; in addition to its 7220 IXR platforms running SR Linux network operating system (NOS) for network connectivity within the data centers.
Norlys will deploy Nokia MantaRay NM for network management and automated operations, as well as for network optimization and technical support services.

Norlys on April 25, 2023 signed the deal to buy Telia Denmark for DKK 6.25 billion (SEK 9.5 billion).
In Q1 2023, Telia Denmark’s revenue increased 3.8 percent to SEK 1.324 billion with adjusted EBITDA margin of 21.8 percent. Capex of Telia Denmark increased 46.9 percent to SEK 178 million (121) in Q1 2023.
Mobile subscriptions of Telia Denmark rose by 23,000 in the quarter driven by the addition of 38,000 postpaid subscriptions used for machine-tomachine related services. TV subscriptions declined by 1,000 and fixed broadband subscriptions increased by 2,000 in the quarter.
