In an expansion deal aimed at modernizing its mobile network and preparing for the 5G era, Cellfie Mobile (Cellfie) has chosen Nokia as the sole Radio Access Network (RAN) supplier for its country-wide 4G network upgrade. The comprehensive deal, which covers the entire country, will provide Cellfie’s customers with improved mobile broadband services, offering full coverage and enhanced capacity.
As part of the agreement, Nokia will deploy its 5G-ready AirScale portfolio, powered by energy-efficient ReefShark System-on-Chip (SoC) technology. The portfolio includes state-of-the-art AirScale Baseband and Remote Radio Head (RRH) products, which will be utilized to modernize existing LTE sites and establish new 5G-ready sites. Additionally, Nokia will introduce 5G (3.5 GHz) new sites following a successful outcome of a scheduled spectrum auction in August.
To ensure seamless network monitoring and management, Cellfie will benefit from Nokia’s intelligent MantaRay Network Management system. This system will offer a consolidated network view, incorporating advanced AI functionalities to enhance overall network performance.
The signing ceremony between Cellfie and Nokia took place in Tbilisi, cementing their long-standing partnership and highlighting Nokia’s increasing market share in the country. Deployment of the modernization project is set to commence in November.
Vasil Berishvili, CEO of Cellfie Mobile, expressed excitement about the deal, stating, “This important deal will ensure that we enhance our existing network performance, helping even more of our customers to experience superb internet speeds across the country as well as dealing with exponential demand for data traffic.”
Demetrio Russo, Vice President Turkiye and Central Asia at Nokia, added, “Cellfie Mobile is an important and long-standing customer, and we are proud to deepen our partnership with them in modernizing their existing network portfolio as well as laying the foundations for a 5G future.”
With Nokia’s advanced 5G-ready technology, Cellfie Mobile is positioning itself to offer cutting-edge mobile services to its customers, while also contributing to the country’s digital transformation and economic growth.
