Telecom Lead India: Mobile service provider Airtel has
selected Huawei to deploy its LTE 4G network in Karnataka.
This is the first LTE deal for Huawei in India. The
earlier deals were grabbed by telecom equipment companies such as Ericsson
(Augere’s MP and Chattisgarh circles), ZTE (Airtel’s Kolkata circle), and Nokia
Siemens (Airtel’s Maharashtra circle).
Interestingly, Alcatel-Lucent and Samsung are yet to sign
any LTE deals in the country.
Huawei will deliver the TD LTE solution comprising of
network infrastructure and devices.

According to industry estimates, mobile data traffic in
the country will increase nearly 100-fold by 2015 and consumers will stream
nearly 600 hours of video content.

Huawei has partnered with Bharti Airtel in Sri Lanka
& part of Bangladesh and is also the 3G provider in the state of Karnataka
& Tamil Nadu. Besides, they are also providing pan-India 4G optical
network, Carrier Ethernet infrastructure and NGN switches.
