EastLink selects Ericsson to build mobile broadband network

Ericsson announced that it has signed a four-year
agreement as the sole vendor for EastLink’s core and radio access networks,
using HSPA+ and next generation technologies.

 

Ericsson will deploy its multi-standard radio base
station; RBS 6000, circuit switched and packet networks including Evolved
Packet Core and Operation Support Systems (OSS), as well as, providing
professional services.

faster than ever before,” said Matthew MacLellan, president, EastLink
Wireless.

 

The RBS 6000 is a multi-standard radio base station which
supports GSM/EDGE, WCDMA/HSPA and LTE, providing a cost-effective deployment
for next-generation high-speed mobile broadband, video, and web application
services while providing subscribers with a superior user experience.

Ericsson has operated in Canada since 1953 and today has
more than 3,000 employees. In 2010, Ericsson invested more than 350 million
Canadian dollars in Canada and ranks as one of the top R&D investors
in the country.  Approximately 85 percent of all mobile calls in
Canada are served by Ericsson.
