Telecom network operator Bharti Airtel on Monday said its 4G networks have reached 50 towns in Kerala.
Other telecom network operators Vodafone and Idea Cellular are in the process of expanding their 4G network in Kerala.
Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular and Vodafone are yet to disclose the minimum guaranteed speed from their 4G network and coverage locations in the respective towns. Lack of sufficient information is impacting customer response to 4G offerings.
Manjeri, Tirurangadi and Thalaserry are the last towns in Kerala to get the high speed 4G network from Bharti Airtel.
Airtel is offering its 4G to customers across a range of smart devices including mobile phones, dongles, 4G hotspots and Wi-Fi dongles.
“As customers in India show an increasing propensity for consuming data services, we at Airtel are excited to take the lead in introducing the market to the power of blazing 4G speeds,” said George Mathen, hub CEO – Kerala & Tamil Nadu, Bharti Airtel.
The investment in 4G network in Kerala is part of Bharti Airtel’s strategy to accelerate revenue from mobile broadband business.
Last week, Airtel announced Project Leap, a Rs 60,000 crore investment program over three years, to boost the quality of telecom network and customer experience. Incidentally, major operators such as Vodafone, Idea Cellular and Reliance Communications did not make any significant increase in their Capex programs.
Airtel said it was the first mobile operator to launch 4G services – in two towns — in Kerala in August 2015. The company achieved 4G presence in 50 towns in five months.
