Airtel 4G launched in Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Telecom operator Bharti Airtel announced the launch of its 4G services in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
airtel-4g-in-rural-indiaAirtel, which launched India’s first 4G network in 2012 in Kolkata, has become the first mobile operator to launch 4G network in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Bharti Airtel was the first private telecom service provider to introduce mobile services in 2005 in the islands.

Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament and Aruna Sundararajan, secretary, Department of Telecom, Govt. of India launched Airtel 4G services via a 4G video call.

Aruna Sundararajan said: “The launch of 4G services in Andaman and Nicobar Islands is another major milestone towards fulfilling our vision of digitally connected India.”

Gopal Vittal, MD and CEO of Bharti Airtel India and South Asia, said Airtel 4G services will be available in Port Blair to begin with and will be gradually expanded to other parts of the islands.

Customers can upgrade to 4G SIM for free and select pre-paid and post-paid plans that come with bundled content offers from Netflix, Amazon and Zee5.
