Vodafone India has introduced low priced monthly data packs starting at Rs 24 for 30 days. The price of the data plans varies from circle to circle.
Vodafone India did not say the quantity of data available for the Rs 24 data pack. The telecom network operator did not mention about network details. Vodafone India has 2G, 3G and 4G networks in India.
Vodafone has more than 200 million customers including 106 million in rural areas of India.
The announcement from Vodafone follows Reliance Jio’s decision to extend its free data and voice offerings till March 31, 2017.
Sandeep Kataria, chief commercial officer of Vodafone India, said that Bada Data Chota Price packs will empower hundreds of million customers to remain connected for the full month and enjoy the power of internet via the mobile on modern and seamless network.
Vodafone India data gains
Vodafone India last month said data, which continues to drive growth, contributes to 20.8 percent of service revenues in Q2 FY 2017.
Vodafone’s 3G / 4G lead the data growth contributing to around 73 percent of data revenues and data volumes. India is the largest data traffic market by volume for Vodafone Group.
Vodafone India has 75,854 3G / 4G sites. Data revenue was Rs 4,617 crore (18.8 percent) in H1 FY 2017. Vodafone had 47.5 million data users with greater than 1MB usage. Vodafone achieved 51 percent growth in 3G / 4G users to 35.9 million.
3G and 4G revenues grew of Vodafone India 36.2 percent, contributing to over 72 percent to data revenue and volume in H1. Data usage / sub for users >1MB was 745 MB / month in Q2 FY 2017, while data ARPU for users > 1MB was Rs 164 in Q2 FY17 against Rs 158 in Q2 FY 2016.
