Airtel India today said its 3G subscriber base rose 101 percent to 12.53 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2014-15.
The company’s total mobile data user base increased 52 percent to 39.32 million. Mobile data users represent 18.8 percent of total user base in Q1 fiscal 2015 against 13.6 percent in Q1 fiscal 2014.
MBs on Airtel network grew 96 percent to 55,610.
Data ARPU of Airtel enhanced 8 percent to Rs 139.
Data usage per user increased 26 percent to 495MB. Data realization per MB decreased 14 percent to 28.04 MB.
Airtel 3G sites
This follows Airtel Capex in 3G sites. Airtel added 8,960 3G sites and total 3G sites stand at 34,564 at present. On the other hand, total number of telecom sites reached 139,894.
Airtel in its Q1 result said: “The company continued to invest on up-gradation and expansion of network sites. By the end of the quarter, the company had 139,894 sites as compared to 134,736 sites in the corresponding quarter last year. Out of the total number, 24.7 percent are 3G sites.”
Airtel’s 3G sites increased to 34,564 in Q1 2014-15 from 31,301 at the end of the previous quarter and 25,604 in Q1 2013-14.
