Uttarakhand Flood: Vodafone happy to help

To assist flood victims in Uttarakhand, telecom service provider Vodafone announced a number of measures.

Vodafone India on Friday said it has set up 19 Help Desks at locations which have been severely affected, using its distributors and service points in Uttarakhand.

Affected people can can visit these outlets and use the mobile phone service for free.

Vodafone has also set up two helpline centers set-up at the Jolly Grant and Sahasdhara Helipads.

The company is offering free phone service to the affected people, who are brought to these helipads after evacuation. Mobile charging units are also available at both these helipads. A4 size posters of Government Disaster Management Center (DMC) numbers have been pasted at all these helpline centers.

Vodafone is also providing talk time credit to affected customers who are unable to top up credit due to the non-availability of recharge facilities in impacted locations. Chhota credit of Rs 10 is being given to 40,000 eligible Vodafone customers. The service is also being made available to about 80,000 Vodafone roaming customers.

In addition, Vodafone India, and its distributors/ retailers are already displaying emergency Government helpline numbers at prominent locations in the affected areas

For the convenience of the stranded people, printed posters with the Disaster Management Centers (DMC) numbers have been put up in various areas of the Dehradun zone.
