Uninor opens 500 Wi-Fi enabled retail outlets in Indian telecom market

Indian telecom service provider Uninor on Thursday announced the opening of 100 new retail outlets.

Uninor, a subsidiary of Telenor, also launched 500 Wi-Fi enabled telecom retail stores.

Mobile customers can experience free mobile internet, access and download new applications and upgrade mobile software at Uninor telecom retail stores.

Uninor is also offering special offers and attractive price plans to customers visiting Uninor stores on Customer First Day.

With a network of more than 1500 stores and 365,000 points of sale (pos), Uninor has the second largest distribution network in its 6 operating circles.

Uninor is promoting the self-help facility, by which a customer can dial *121# to access their account information, get customized tariff plans, activate and de-active add-on services and get details of the last recharges.

Morten Karlsen Sorby, CEO, Uninor said, “The customer first day is a symbolic gesture and a formal way to get unified and collective attention from our telecom partners, distributors and employees to strengthen our commitment to keep customers first.”

Uninor has a subscriber base of over 42 million across its six operating circles and is at 4th position in customer market share in its best circles.
