tw telecom bags multi-year contract from GSA

Telecom Lead America:  tw telecom, a provider
of managed services, including Business Ethernet, converged and IP VPN
solutions for enterprises, has got a multi-year contract from the U.S. General
Services Administration (GSA) for advanced voice, data and Internet services
in Hawaii.

 

The contract is an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite
Quantity contract (IDIQ) for multiple services.

 

“tw telecom’s services will ensure that federal
agencies in Hawaii have access to the benefits of an integrated data
network that gives employees the most advanced services possible,” said Ken
Folderauer, president of Public Sector at tw telecom.

 

Under the terms the contract, tw telecom will
provide federal agencies located anywhere in Hawaii with digital
voice/voice-over-IP services.

 

Furthermore, the provider will provide a fully managed
Business Ethernet services including E-Line Ethernet WAN service along with
Extended Native LAN (ENLAN) service and Private Network Transport (PNT)
service.

 

The contract includes provisions for two one-year
options. Agencies have the choice of ordering services through GSA or they can
choose the direct order/direct bill method.

 

tw telecom delivers Business Ethernet solutions to its
customers over the company’s fiber optic networks. Those fiber optic networks
connect nearly 16,000 buildings – more than any other competitive provider –
across the United States.

 

The company claims that it has one of the most robust
portfolios of Business Ethernet solutions available in the industry today,
delivering services from 2 Meg to 10 Gig, within the metro or across the
country, and managing the customer’s entire network doorstep to doorstep.

 

tw telecom revenue up 7.9% to $358.9 million in Q1 2012

 

Recently, tw telecom has posted $358.9
million of revenue for the first quarter of 2012, up 7.9 percent, against
$332.5 million of revenue for the same period of 2011.
