Top 10 telecom services providers in India based on revenue market share in Q4 2011

By Telecom Lead Team: Bharti Airtel continues to lead the
telecom market based on revenue market share in India. The mobile service
provider has clocked Rs 13,671 crore gross revenue in Q4 2011. Vodafone is in
second place by registering Rs 9,365 crore gross revenue. Tata Teleservices and
Reliance Communications are in fifth and sixth places, according to TRAI.

BSNL and Idea Cellular are in third and fourth positions.
The other operators in top 10 include Aircel, MTNL, Unitech and Videocon
Telecommunications.

 

TRAI earlier said that active wireless subscribers on the
date of peak VLR in December 2011 were 646.77 million.

 

Broadband subscription reached 13.30 million in December
2011 from 13.13 million in Novomber 2011.

 

The number of telephone subscribers in India increased to
926.53 million at the end of December,


2011 from 917.33 million at the end of November 2011,
registering 1 percent increase.

 

The share of urban subscribers has declined to 65.97
percent from 66.11 percent, whereas share of rural Subscribers has increased to 34.03 percent in the
month of December 2011.

 

With this, the overall Tele-density in India reaches to
76.86 at the end of December, 2011 from 76.18 of the previous month.

 

Subscription in urban areas grew from 606.47 million in
November, 2011 to 611.19 million at the end of December, 2011. Subscription in
rural areas increased from 310.86 million to 315.33 million during the same
period.

 

The growth of urban and rural subscription is 0.78
percent and 1.44 percent respectively. The overall urban teledensity has
increased from 166.84 to 167.85 and rural teledensity increased from 36.98 to
37.48.
