Telenor appoints Morten Sorby as head of Asia

Telecom service provider Telenor Group has appointed Morten Sorby as head of Region Asia.

Morten Sorby will replace the current Asian head Sigve Brekke, who will become the president and CEO of Telenor Group. Sorby has earlier played a major role in re-shaping its telecom business of Telenor in India in 2014 under the aegis of Sigve Brekke.

Sorby will assume all the responsibilities in overseeing and running Telenor Group’s operations in Asia – and joins Telenor’s Group Executive Management team.

He joined Telenor in 1993 and has previously been a member of Telenor’s executive management team for a number of years. He has served as the executive vice president in charge of corporate strategy and regulatory affairs in Telenor Group. Sorby was also the EVP and head of the Norwegian and Nordic mobile and fixed network operations of Telenor.
