Tata Teleservices country head Sushil Prakash resigns

Sushil
Prakash, country head, Emerging Technology-Business Innovation Group, 
Tata Teleservices, has resigned.

 

Sushil,
who spent around three years with Tata Teleservices, is joining the central
Government to work on a national initiative.

 

Sushil
will be working closely with the telecommunications and IT ministry headed by
Kapil Sibal. He will begin the new assignment from next week.

 

Sushil,
who joined Tata Teleservices in May 2009, was responsible for delivering
state-of-the-art technology products and align with market requirements to
enhance TTSL’s market share in India.

 

Before
joining Tata Teleservices, Sushil was with Bank of America as the CIO India and
Head Business Management Technology (Asia) for two years.

 

Tata Teleservices has
undergone many top level changes in the last 18 months. Recently, Pankaj Sethi,
president and head of Tata Teleservices Maharashtra, the listed arm of Tata
Teleservices, had stepped down. In the apex leadership team at Tata
Teleservices, Pankaj played a leading role in strategic development and service
areas of mobile value added services and m commerce. 

 

Last
year, Tata Teleservices reshuffled the top
management ahead of its 3G launches. As part of the reshuffle, president of
corporate services, Pankaj Sethi, moved out of Tata Teleservices to head Tata
Teleservices Maharashtra, a listed arm of Tata Teleservices.

 

Tata
Teleservices’ CEO Anil Sardana had also moved out of Tata Teleservices.

 

Tata
Teleservices has 10.98 percent market share in Indian mobile  market,
while Idea Cellular has 11.03 percent. The market share of Bharti Airtel, the
wireless major, is 19.99 percent, Reliance Communications at 16.72 percent,
Vodafone at 16.58 percent and BSNL has 11.32 percent.
