Sprint to focus on enterprise business, hires Vodafone executive

Sprint Enterprise president Jan Geldmacher
American wireless operator Sprint today announced the appointment of Jan Geldmacher, former CEO of Vodafone Global Enterprise, as president of Sprint Enterprise.

At a time when AT&T and Verizon Wireless are aiming for additional revenue streams from IoT business and 5G network roll outs, Sprint, a company owned by SoftBank, is still struggling to make revenues from enterprise segment.

Sprint in a statement said that Jan Geldmacher will be responsible for business-to-business sales and business development, supporting enterprise customers with wireless communications solutions and services.

Jan Geldmacher will be reporting to Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure.

Before joining Sprint in the U.S., Jan Geldmacher led Vodafone Global Enterprise, defining the strategy and operational execution of the company’s relationship with multinational corporate customers.

He also previously served as Vodafone’s director of the Enterprise Business Unit, CEO of British Telecom Germany, and in various management and sales positions at European telecom companies.

Sprint aims to tap business clients with many phone lines, devices and mobility issues. Sprint will begin aggressively targeting and serving enterprise companies of all sizes.

“Our network is performing better than ever, making it the ideal time to double-down on our efforts and focus on winning again in the Enterprise segment,” said Marcelo Claure.
