Ooredoo and Ericsson sign network transformation deal

Ooredoo and Ericsson dealTelecom operator Ooredoo  and Ericsson announced the signing of the network transformation agreement.

The network transformation deal will assist Ooredoo to offer better data experience to mobile Internet consumers.

Ooredoo will transform its network and will be backed by Ericsson’s services organisation and solutions portfolio enabling the company to modernise its networks.

“This addendum to our 2015 frame agreement enables us to strategically position Ooredoo as an early adopter of new technologies provided by Ericsson,” said Waleed Al-Sayed, deputy chief executive officer of Ooredoo Group.

Ericsson currently supplies 2G, 3G and 4G radio, core and transmissions solutions to Ooredoo Group. Ooredoo provides 4G services in eight markets in the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia. 5G will be one of the focus areas for Ooredoo.
