OnMobile net profit falls 31 percent to Rs 128 million in Q1 FY 2012





OnMobile’s net profit for the first quarter of fiscal year 2012, ended June 30, 2011 decreased 31 percent from Rs 186 million to Rs 128 million.





Revenue for the first of quarter of the current fiscal was Rs 1,364 million, registering a 10 per cent increase as compared to Rs 1,238 million in the comparable period a year ago.





The company’s EBITDA decreased 6 percent from Rs 286 million to Rs 270 million. Operating margin of OnMobile decreased 28 percent from Rs 154 million to Rs 111 million. Earnings per share decreased 16  percent from Rs 1.6 to Rs 1.3.





The global deal between OnMobile and Telefonica in LATAM continues to grow as services have been deployed across 7 countries, covering 85 percent of the total subscriber base. The active user base has grown over 50 percent from last quarter to 4.6 million users at the end of this quarter.





The company also completed the deployment of its sports pack ‘Futbol’ in all 12 countries ahead of the big event, COPA America in July.





This quarter witnessed the launch of the OnMobile OnCloud – a SaaS based platform for Converged Content, Communications and Mobile Commerce applications offering a social community layer to existing and new VAS services.





OnMobile launched RBT on a SaaS model in Telefonica, Spain, successfully migrating 1 million RBT users within 2 weeks. This further reaffirmed our strong relationship with Telefonica, one of the largest telcos in the world and bears testimony on our ability to scale and deliver.





The company has established a firm presence in the African continent. We have launched RBT and MRadio services in one of the leading operators in a large African Country replacing the incumbent RBT Service Provider, and also launched RBT in one of the leading operators in Southern Africa.





Atul Churamani was appointed as Head, Content Licensing & Partnerships for OnMobile. Atul will lead licensing of content from music labels and other owners of intellectual property for distribution across mobile platforms in India and around the globe, leveraging the huge mobile reach of OnMobile for content owners.
