MTS India files curative petition in Supreme Court against 2G spectrum order

Telecom Lead India: Sistema Shyam Teleservices (MTS India) has filed a curative petition in the
Supreme Court to set aside the Supreme Court order in cancellation of its
licences.

SSTL has consistently maintained that being a pure play CDMA
operator, its legal case is significantly different compared to other mobile
operators. For example, there is no finding or suggestion by the CAG report
that CDMA spectrum was equally or anywhere near in demand as GSM back in 2008.

To protect the interest of more than 16 million customers,
3500 employees, universe of 300,000 retailers and investments of over $3.1
billion, SSTL has filed the curative petition before the Supreme Court. We are
hopeful that the highest court of the land will look into the merits of the
SSTL Case and consider it accordingly, according to Sistema Shyam Teleservices.

MTS India welcomes SC order to extend 2G operations till
September 7

Recently, MTS India welcomed the Supreme Court order to
continue 2G operations till September 7.

In the interest of more than 70 million affected customers,
including more than 16 million customers of SSTL, the company had filed an
application before the Supreme Court seeking a clarification that quashing of
the licenses is to become operative simultaneously with the conclusion of the
grant of licenses and auction process for allocation of 2G spectrum.

Supreme Court in its judgment dated 2nd February 2012
had ordered to cancel 122 telecom licenses issued in 2008, including 21
licenses of Sistema Shyam TeleServices.
