MTNL Selects Alphion for FTTP Services

Alphion
Corporation announced that MTNL has selected Alphion GPON technology
for the first phase of the deployment of triple play
fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) services in its next generation network.

Alphion offers a
full spectrum of broadband access solutions that support complete end-to-end
access networks, enabling multiple-play IP based broadband services
such as VoIP, high-speed Internet, IPTV, and Video-On-Demand.

The Gigabit Passive Optical
Network (GPON) product family consists of state-of-the-art Optical Line
Terminal (OLT), Optical Network Terminals and passive optical splitters. The
Alphion OLT has 40 GPON ports per shelf and supports a unique, low cost fiber
path protection architecture particularly well suited for the India market.

Alphion GPON solutions
enable the convergence of wireless and wire-line networks as it is suitable not
only for distribution of multiple-play voice, high speed Internet, data and
video services; it is also ideal for backhaul of WiMax, 2G/3G/4G cellular and
future wireless networks.
