Intelsat unveils new Intelsat EpicNG satellite platform

Telecom Lead Europe: Satellite services provider Intelsat
has unveiled Intelsat EpicNG satellite platform, which is an open architecture
design.

The satellite platform will be available for
wireless and fixed telecommunications, enterprise, mobility, video and
government applications that requires broadband infrastructure.

Intelsat EpicNG satellite platform is a new range of
satellites based upon a high performance.

As the global demand for bandwidth surges and
penetration of communications reaches ever further into developing regions and
mobile applications, we are strategically investing in this platform to support
our customers with a highly reliable and efficient broadband infrastructure as
they launch new services and enter new geographies,” said Dave McGlade, chief
executive officer of Intelsat.

Intelsat EpicNG will be fully integrated with
Intelsat’s existing satellite fleet and global IntelsatONESM terrestrial
network.

Intelsat claims that its new platform is an innovative approach
to satellite and network architecture utilizing multiple frequency bands, wide
beams, spot beams and frequency reuse technology.

With this new platform, the company said that its
customers will be able to use existing hardware and network topologies, which
will enable them to offer customized solutions to their end users and build
upon their current business success.

The new Intelsat EpicNG series will offer higher
performance and lower cost per-bit to its customers.

The Intelsat EpicNG platform will feature two next
generation satellites that are Intelsat 29e and Intelsat 33e. These two
satellites have projected in-services dates in 2015 and 2016.
