Indosat Ooredoo and Ericsson Complete CS Core Transformation Project Ahead of Schedule

Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, in collaboration with Ericsson, has announced the successful completion of their CS Core Transformation project.
Indosat - Ericsson PartnershipIndosat Ooredoo, which commenced the project in November 2022, has completed well ahead of schedule, wrapping up in September 2023.

The CS Core Transformation is a pivotal component of Indosat’s merger program, aimed at consolidating two separate CS (Circuit Switched) networks into a single, unified network with a streamlined architecture. The project has yielded impressive results, including a 53 percent reduction in operational expenditures (OPEX) and a notable increase in the customer satisfaction index by 1.1 percent.

By centralizing the CS Core into a unified Ericsson platform, Indosat has substantially mitigated the risk of network disruptions or downtime, even in the face of catastrophic events such as fiber or power cuts. This strategic move ensures that Indosat customers can now enjoy uninterrupted voice and SMS services nationwide.

The transformation project’s impact is directly reflected in a 33 percent improvement in customer interactions and a substantial reduction in call setup times by 495 milliseconds. Additionally, this network simplification has led to a reduction in hardware, software, and infrastructure requirements, consequently reducing OPEX.

Desmond Cheung, Director and Chief Technology Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, expressed his commitment to enhancing customer experiences, stating, “In line with our mission to deliver world-class digital experiences, connecting and empowering every Indonesian, we are committed to continue providing a reliable network that enhances customers’ experience.”

Krishna Patil, Head of Ericsson Indonesia, expressed satisfaction at the project’s successful completion ahead of schedule, emphasizing the efficiency and improved customer experience it brings to Indosat and its end-users.

Earlier in January this year, Ericsson played a pivotal role in supporting Indosat’s network integration by leveraging Multi-Operator Core Network (MOCN) technology in the JABODETABEK area. This achievement resulted in a better digital experience for customers, with wider coverage, improved indoor service quality, and faster internet speeds.

The CS Core Transformation project not only enhances the digital experience for Indosat customers but also underscores the company’s commitment to delivering innovative, reliable, and efficient telecommunications services. This achievement marks a significant milestone in the telecom industry, showcasing the potential for seamless network integration and customer-centric solutions.
