China Telecom CEO Chang Xiaobing resigned

China Telecom CEO Chang Xiaobing has resigned.

He is facing graft charges.

“Chang Xiaobing has resigned from his positions as the executive director, chairman and chief executive officer of the company, with effect from 30 December 2015,” said China Telecom in a statement.

Yang Jie, executive director, president and chief operating officer of China Telecom, will exercise the powers of the chairman and chief executive officer until new appointment is made by the board.

China Telecom says Yang Jie is a professor-level senior engineer. Yang served as deputy director general of Shanxi Posts and Telecommunications Administration, general manager of Shanxi Telecommunications Corporation, vice president of China Telecom Beijing Research Institute and general manager of Business Department of the Northern Telecom of China Telecommunications Corporation. He is also the president of China Telecommunications.

According to China Telecom website, Chang Xiaobing is a professor-level senior engineer. Chang served as deputy director general of the Nanjing Telecommunications Bureau in Jiangsu province, deputy director general of Directorate General of Telecommunications of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, deputy director general and Director General of the Telecommunications Administration Bureau of the former Ministry of Information Industry, vice president of China Telecommunications Corporation, executive director and president of China Telecom, chairman of China United Network Communications Group Company, the chairman of China United Network Communications, chairman of China United Network Communications Corporation, executive director, chairman and chief executive officer of China Unicom (Hong Kong) and a director of Telefonica.
