Telecom network operator BT today said it will be hiring 900 resources to work in its security business in the next 12 months.

The UK-based BT, which already employs over 2,500 security professionals, said its security revenues are growing at a double-digit rate.

It addresses security needs of the consumer, business and governmental. Some of the security needs are antivirus, parental controls, managed security solutions used by multinational companies, banks and national governments.

BT expects to train 170 graduates and apprentices, as part of its 900 recruitment in the next 12 months. BT will give training to graduates and apprentices in BT’s Security Academy in areas including physical security, penetration testing, threat intelligence, risk management, security operations and sales.

BT will be hiring majority of the roles in the United Kingdom, while it will also add security specialists across Continental Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. BT has security operations centers in London, Sevenoaks and Cardiff in the UK.

“A number of security and data breaches have dominated the headlines in recent months, and this has led to a surge in interest from both consumers and IT departments wanting to know how best they can protect themselves in the digital world,” said Mark Hughes, president of BT Security.

BT is holding an apprentice open afternoon at a prestigious Central London location to help young people find out more about apprenticeships in Cyber Security.

BT Group’s revenue was £17,979 million and profit before taxation was £2,645 million for the year ended 31 March 2015.
