BSNL issue: COAI wants DoT to allow spectrum trading

COAI today requested Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister for Communications and Technology, to allow its member mobile operators for spectrum trading and sharing.

COAI says the state-run telecom operator BSNL is in the process of signing a spectrum trading and sharing deal with a top telecom operator. The COAI statement did not name the telecom operator which will have a spectrum trading arrangement with BSNL.

The statement said BSNL will be sharing the spectrum to improve its mobile network coverage across the country.
The telecom industry body wants telecom minister to ensure level playing field for GSM mobile operators.
