Aircel aims 1,000 Xpress retail stores by Q1 2016

Aircel Xpress plans expansion
Telecom network operator Aircel aims to achieve more than 1,000 Aircel Xpress retail stores by Q1 2016 and 2,000 by 2017 from 500 in March 2015.

The strategy of Aircel is to expand its retail footprint across the country. Aircel launched the Xpress Stores — on the low-cost Franchisee Owned Franchisee Operated model — last year.

Aircel Xpress Stores offer one-stop convenience to new and existing customers for all their needs of Aircel’s products and services, new connections, recharges and top-ups, resolution of customer queries and all other assistance.

Vodafone India recently said it has 9,800 branded retail stores, covering over 1.54 million sq.ft. and attracting more than 115 million  footfalls annually. Vodafone India opened 200 Vodafone stores and 1,000 Vodafone Mini Stores since April 2014.

Aircel will open Xpress Stores in telecom circles such as Delhi, Mumbai, Rajasthan, North East & Assam and J&K, among others.

The telecom network operator achieved previous target of 500 Xpress Stores ahead of time in March 2015.

“We continue with that approach even today, and expect to expand our chain to over 1,000 stores by Q1 2016, and eventually to more than 2,000 stores by exit 2017,” said Vipul Saurabh, national head – Operations & Customer Support, Aircel.
