ZTE bags China Unicom’s IMS project

ZTE and China Unicom IMS projectZTE has bagged 47 percent of the total share of the bid for China Unicom’s IMS project to serve 18.58 million subscribers.

According to the bidding plan, China Unicom selects top 3 vendors of the ranking as its partners to deploy IMS networks in various provinces for  services like VoLTE, one number with multiple devices, VoWiFi, and 5G voice services, etc.

Earlier, ZTE won 70 percent share of China Mobile’s CM-IMS network VoLTE project in 2015.

ZTE said its IMS enhances user experience, and supports smooth evolution to future 5G network. ZTE’s IMs also integrated with third party components horizontally and vertically to lead network transformation.

ZTE said it has deployed over 280 IMS commercial/trial projects, including over 70 vIMS projects around the world.

Earlier, ZTE released the telecom industry’s first vBRAS solution at the China Mobile Global Partner Conference 2017 held in Guangzhou. The vBRAS solution from ZTE supports 10 million users’ access simultaneously based on the C/U (Control/User) separated architecture.

The vBRAS solution decouples the software from the hardware on the control plane through the NFV (Network Function Virtualization) technology, realizing centralized management and virtualization of the control plane by integrating user management functions of multiple BRAS devices.
