Zhone Technologies secures Novosco deployment of MXK

Zhone Technologies announced its MXK multi-service access
node (MSAN) system will serve as the core enabler of Novosco’s deployment of
its Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) solution in Northern Ireland.

A combination of Zhone’s MXK MSAN and ETHX network
termination devices have been deployed to support customers in Belfast and
across the region. Novosco has added EFM to its suite of managed services to
satisfy customer demand for cost-effective connectivity and to complement
existing service offerings.

EFM provides significant flexibility at a very
competitive price point for our business customers,” said Brian Caskey, chief
marketing officer at Zhone.

Novosco began integrating Zhone’s MXK terabit access
platform into its network in January and went live in March 2011.

Zhone’s EFM solutions give us a high level of
flexibility in both our service and system configuration options,” said Patrick
McCaliskey, managing director of Novosco.

With this advanced capability, we are now able to
efficiently deliver the high-quality advanced services that will elevate our
competitive position and accelerate our growth strategy in the coming months.
The Zhone portfolio of products helps us extend our reach with our customers,
and gives us the option of adopting technologies such as GPON and Active
Ethernet, as demand dictates,” McCaliskey added.

Zhone has deployed more than 2,600 of its fully
redundant, carrier-grade all-IP MXK platforms with more than 150 service
providers in more than 40 countries globally.
