Wireless infrastructure revenues decreased 10.3% in Q3 2012 to $11.3 billion, Huawei leads

Telecom Lead India: Wireless infrastructure equipment revenues decreased 10.3 percent in the third quarter of 2012 to $11.3 billion from the same quarter one year ago. Huawei is leading the RAN market.

The decrease in revenue was 1 percent against the second quarter of 2012.

Huawei is leading the wireless infrastructure market. Ericsson and Nokia Siemens are in number two and three positions. Alcatel-Lucent is in fourth position, while Chinese telecom equipment maker ZTE is in fifth position.

Huawei’s RAN revenues decreased 15.2 percent sequentially, though the company retains its #1 spot in the RAN market share rankings at 24.3 percent.

Ericsson’s share increased to 22.9 percent.

Nokia Siemens’ share of RAN grew to 22.4 percent.

Samsung’s RAN revenues grew to 5 percent.

Nokia Siemens and Samsung attribute their share gains to success with LTE deployments with Nokia Siemens LTE revenues growing 4 times sequentially.

At fourth position, Alcatel-Lucent has 14.3 percent share, down 0.8 points from last quarter.

ZTE retains the #5 market share rank in the third quarter although seeing revenues 15 percent drop from last year.

“There is no question that the RAN market has been squeezed in 2012, although we have seen improvements in the 3Q, being 8 percent down from the 14 percent decrease we saw in 1Q,” said Aditya Kaul, practice director, mobile networks. “Even with 4Q bringing in the traditional Christmas cheer, 2012 will end up 10 percent down at the very least, which is bound to cause market share shifts especially in the top 3,” Kaul added.
