Wireless backhaul: BLiNQ Networks raises $10 million in funding

Telecom Lead America: Wireless backhaul solutions provider BLiNQ Networks has raised an additional $10 million in funding.

Mickey Miller, co-founder and CEO at BLiNQ

BLiNQ is planning to use the funding to expand and accelerate global sales and marketing efforts as well as ongoing development of BLiNQ’s mobile transport solutions.

BDC Venture Capital, New Venture Partners and Summerhill Venture Partners have funded this round.

BLiNQ Networks is expecting that the explosion of mobile data, consumer video and social networking traffic on smart phones and other mobile devices will generate demand for mobile backhaul solutions.

The company said traditional mobile backhaul solutions cannot cost effectively scale to solve the problem of providing ubiquitous bandwidth.

At present mobile operators are deploying small cell base stations in urban and suburban environments to meet fresh demands.

BLiNQ Networks said that its new category of non line of site (NLOS) backhaul technology is self-organizing and reliable as it continually self-optimizes to adapt to the changing environment.

“We have successfully completed trials in North America and Europe demonstrating the availability, reliability and scalabilty of NLOS backhaul,” said Mickey Miller, co-founder and CEO at BLiNQ.
